You had better be careful with choosing the right acne treatment for you case. With all the types of acne treatments available these days, it is helpful to categorize them for your convenient choosing. The cure to acne lies within the level of effectiveness of a certain treatment. Is it possible to try them all for you to know? Of course! This is what we call “experiments”. However, why would anyone want to experiment at his or her own risk, which may worsen one’s skin condition? On the other hand, you can rely on investigative documentation of acne treatments and consult your dermatologist about your chosen type treatment in this article. Just a reminder, if your dermatologist currently does not have a clue about the treatment listed in this article, you might want to consult a better dermatologist.
Topical treatments. The goal of topical treatments is directly attack the problem areas through the surface of the skin. They work in several ways. Tea tree oil for example aims at controlling oil while acting against bacteria with its anti-bacterial properties. Another topical treatment is salicylic acid, which works by drying out pimples and helping with skin exfoliation. The most famous topical treatment however, is Benzoyl Peroxide. It is a very effective treatment against acne-bacteria.
Oral medications. One of the objectives of an oral medication is to regulate the hormones in the body that cause excessive production of oil. An example of this is a contraceptive pill and anti-androgen pills. Another way this medication works is by killing the acne-causing bacteria by ingesting antibiotic or antibacterial medications. The most popular oral medication against acne today is Isotretinoin. It is a derivative of Vitamin A, which effectively controls acne. However, there have been many debates over the use of this medication that you may want to consider before choosing this medication.
Clinical procedures. One of the most famous instant remedy to nodular and cystic acne is the injectible cortisone. It reduces swelling and promotes healing of the lesion. The medication is injected directly into the spot once or thrice, depending on the size of the nodules and cysts. Another recommended procedure by dermatologists is the laser treatment. This treatment works by killing the acne bacteria with high frequency light or laser. The laser resurfaces the skin while killing the bacteria at the same time.
These are the main types of acne treatments you can choose from and each one of them has several kinds of medication and procedures to choose from. Don’t fret. I’ll enumerate all of them with the following research articles I’ll be posting very soon so check them out at Acnezine Review !
