Prevent and Control Acne

Save yourself from the horrors of acne! How do we actually prevent and control acne?  Acne is caused by the increased number of bacterial inhabitants of the skin. These bacteria thrive in the sebum produced by the skin and irritate the surrounding area, which causes inflammation. The bacteria that cause acne are a normal inhabitant of the skin. However, these bacteria multiply and develop to full visibility as acne in parts of the skin with a lot of sebum production. It is otherwise known as oily skin. Many people suffer from this predicament but there are a few simple ways to prevent and control acne.

Keep your skin clean. Dirt also contributes in the irritation of the skin, making it produce more sebum. Prevent this by washing face often with a mild and non-comedogenic facial wash.

Keep your skin well moisturized. Dry skin also causes more production of sebum. People who have oily skin still need to moisturize regularly using a water-based moisturizer.

Reduce sebum in the face. You can reduce existing sebum in your skin by absorbing it with a tissue. Just pat the skin gently with a tissue to absorb oil.

Keep your hands off the affected area. Simply touching your pimples can cause more irritation to it. Squeezing it is guaranteed to spread the bacteria in other areas. It worsens the existing acne and creates more of it around the area.

Treat acne regularly. Treatment to huge acne is necessary. You can do several things to treat acne depending on which best apply to your case. There are over-the-counter topical treatments available today, which aim to kill the acne causing bacteria such as products with herbal contents that effectively eliminate the problem. You can choose which one is right for you with the help of your dermatologist. For severe cases of acne, you can also ask your dermatologist about antibiotic treatments. This type of antibiotic is ingested to attack the bacteria underneath the skin. There are also clinical procedures available to more severe cases of acne, such as a laser treatment. This type of treatment kills the acne bacteria while improving the appearance of the skin’s surface.

Drink lots of water. Water does a lot in flushing toxins in our body as well as moisturizing the skin. It helps a lot to cleanse our body of irritants that also trigger acne.

Maintain overall proper hygiene. Bacteria causes acne and further irritations from lack of proper hygiene can worsens it.

These are just some of the simplest way you can do to prevent and control acne. Do it regularly for a clear, acne-free skin.
