Having back acne is as terrible as having it on our face. This is especially true when there’s a need to showcase a nice pair of bikinis, swimming trunks or a glamorous backless gown. Of course we could always resort to concealers and foundation but we know how difficult it is to handle that, it’s not even applicable to the sun-filled fun times we have at the beach. So the best way to avoid this situation is to prevent having back acne. Here’s how:
Hydrate. Lots of water or at least 8 glasses a day instead of coffee or soft drinks is an excellent favor to your skin. It’s also the most effective way to hydrate your body and give you a glowing smooth skin.
Hit the sauna or have a steam bath. This is an excellent way to detoxify your skin and help prevent breakouts in the face and at your back. With regular practice, it can give you a glowing skin. Bring some bottled water to avoid dehydration. You can also try brining a wet to towel that you can place on top of your head to avoid too much heat.
Exfoliate by scrubbing. Just like a necessary step we do on our face, the same step is also necessary to other parts of our body that is prone to acne such as our back. It’s ideal to exfoliate our body at least 3 times a week. It is also very important that you scrub before you hit the beach. After a beach trip, you’d also want to very gently scrub off dead skin at your back with exfoliating creams. You can also try nylon gloves or sponges with a handle built to reach your back. Before you start scrubbing, wet your body first under the shower to soften your skin. That way, it will be easier to slough off dead skin cells. Always be gentle in scrubbing your skin to avoid adverse effects.
Moisturize your whole body including your back. Lightly moisturize you body including your back after you exfoliate. Just like your face, when other parts of your body becomes too flaky and too dry; it’s bound to have more dry skin that will clog its pores resulting to acne.
Keep them dry. Whenever you go to the gym or whenever you exercise, wiping for sweat off of your back helps in preventing acne. Anything moist is a breeding ground of germs and bacteria which sets off the perfect place for acne bacteria to multiply.
Don’t pick them. In my personal experience, my back acne multiplies whenever I scratch or pick them. Yes, it the same case in your face. This is the worst thing you can do to spread out acne all over the neighboring parts of the infected area. By picking them, you’re actually spreading out the acne bacteria.
